SOUTH TAMPA
South Tampa is renowned for some of the oldest and well established residential communities in the Bay area, dating back from the early 1900’s. Within South Tampa home communities you will find waterfront condos, pool homes, historic bungalows, ranch style Florida style homes, majestic mansions and everything in between. Many of the South Tampa homes have been restored or remodeled and continue to do so, since this ever popular area of Tampa homes have resale value. You will find a cultural mix of people and places within South Tampa neighborhoods along with lots of great food to feast on.
South Tampa area borders between the lovely, tree-lined trendy and hip Hyde Park/Soho area to the north, all the way down to the tip of the peninsula where MacDill Air Force Base is located. In between these two borders lie some of the most beautiful Tampa homes, exquisite restaurants, hip shops and everything in between. South Tampa is convenient to its downtown area, Tampa International Airport, 2 major shopping malls like Westshore Plaza and International Plaza, and high ranking schools.
Located just minutes southwest of downtown, South Tampa features the longest continuous sidewalk in the world—yes, the world—along beautiful Bayshore Boulevard overlooking Hillsborough Bay. Taking the drive down Bayshore Boulevard is very scenic as well as home to huge mansions of the elite set of Tampa Bay. Why not walk, jog, bicycle or rollerblade or down the Boulevard. On one of Tampa’s balmy sunny days, it will nearly take your breath away. Take a boat ride around Davis Island, Harbor Island and the Bayshore.
The Bayfront is also the site of Gasparilla, Tampa's longest-running and most renowned event. Since 1904, the city's movers and shakers in Gasparilla have donned pirate garb, boarded a replica pirate ship and “invaded” the city. The colorful celebration held each January or February, also features parades, balls, fireworks and other festivities. For the past 5 years, South Tampa holds a Taste of South Tampa to showcase all of its wonderful restaurants.
South Tampa is home to more than the occasional festival and event. The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce is an organization that represents and supports over 500 businesses. There is also the well-established 8 year old South Tampa Community News Newspaper to peruse for local event happenings. Outside of South Tampa home communities, there are a huge number of eclectic shops, thriving businesses and outstanding restaurants.
The Palma Ceia Community Country Club and Bayshore Yacht Club are home to the Tampa’s power-elite and some of the finest families in the area that support all that Tampa is striving for. But all of Bayshore Boulevard as well as other areas of South Tampa Home Communities with their grand homes, high rise condominiums situated on winding cobblestone streets with lovely grand oak canopies, are certainly a magnet for the wealthy.
